Guardia di Finanza on the scent.......

Here is the latest from our preferred commercialista Antonio Del Gaizo at Studio Del Gaizo Picchioni.........

We understand the frustration of many of our clients who regularly pay their dues but see around them flagrant examples of others who carry on businesses, taking huge profits from the country and paying nothing back.

So it may be of some comfort to learn that increasingly the Guardia di Finanza is tracking down the most flagrant tax evaders. A recent edition of the Corriere della Sera relates that the GdF has uncovered three luxury holiday home businesses in the Cortona and Casentina area run entirely (illegitimately) from abroad. The total amount of tax evaded is stated to be in the region of €2 million, plus €200k of evaded IVA. The fines on top of these will be eye-watering.

Times are hard and the traditionally lax Italian attitude to tax is toughening up. Now is a good time to put your affairs in order, whether they be personal or business. Doing otherwise is simply becoming less and less a risk worth taking.
